About Kate

A gentle, grounded approach to change

I’m Kate Delaney, a clinical hypnotherapist and mindfulness teacher, and I work with people who feel stuck in patterns that don’t shift through insight alone.

Many of the people who come to see me have already tried to understand what’s going on — through talking, reading, or thinking things through — but still find that anxiety, panic, physical tension, or long-standing habits persist. My work focuses on supporting the nervous system to settle, so change can happen at a deeper, more embodied level.

I offer a calm, thoughtful space to explore what’s happening beneath the surface, at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

How I work

My approach combines clinical hypnotherapy and mindfulness, informed by trauma-aware and nervous-system-based practice. Rather than trying to override symptoms or “fix” parts of you, we work with what your body and mind are already communicating.

Sessions are tailored to you as an individual. Depending on what’s needed, I may draw on:

  • Clinical hypnotherapy

  • Mindfulness-based approaches

  • EMDR-informed techniques

  • EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

These methods are used gently and collaboratively, always with an emphasis on safety, consent, and regulation.

Many issues can ease in a relatively small number of sessions, though this varies depending on what you’re working with. I offer an initial conversation to help you decide whether this approach feels right for you.

Background & training

Before training as a hypnotherapist, I worked as an academic at the University of Southampton. My doctorate was in Environmental Science, and my research took me to Latin America and Africa.

A significant health challenge led me to change direction and sparked a deep interest in the relationship between mind, body, and healing. That experience continues to inform my work — both personally and professionally — and shapes the care and sensitivity I bring to my clients.

Professional standards

I am a fully qualified and insured clinical hypnotherapist and work in line with professional and ethical guidelines at all times.

  • Full member of the British Society for Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH)

  • Registered supervisor with BSCH, and I undertake regular supervision myself

  • Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills (Distinction)

  • Diploma in EMDR

  • Accredited, Certified EFT Practitioner (AAMET International)

  • Trained Mindfulness Teacher (British Mindfulness Institute)

  • ILM-7 Executive Coach (Institute of Leadership & Management)

I am committed to ongoing professional development and currently undertake advanced training and supervision to ensure my work remains safe, ethical, and effective.

Client confidentiality is always respected.
