Further reading & listening

Gentle resources to explore in your own time

Some people like to explore ideas slowly, through reading or listening, alongside (or before) working one to one. The resources below offer a way to deepen your understanding of emotions, anxiety, and nervous-system-based change at your own pace.

FREED: 5 Steps to Let Go of Negative Feelings

FREED is a gentle, practical book about working with difficult emotions — including anxiety, fear, sadness, and overwhelm — without trying to fix or override them.

Drawing on my work as a hypnotherapist and mindfulness teacher, the book introduces a simple process for meeting emotions in a way that allows them to soften and shift naturally.

It’s written for people who:

  • feel stuck in recurring emotional patterns

  • experience anxiety physically rather than just mentally

  • have tried “understanding” their feelings, but still feel overwhelmed

  • want a calmer, kinder way of relating to what they feel

The approach in the book reflects the same principles I use in my therapeutic work.

The FREED Podcast

The podcast is a space for slower, more thoughtful conversations about emotions, anxiety, and what actually helps when life feels hard.

Episodes include:

  • reflections from my clinical work

  • guided practices

  • conversations about working with emotions rather than against them

It’s not a self-improvement podcast, and it isn’t about fixing yourself. Instead, it offers a calmer pace and a chance to sit with what’s difficult in a supportive way.

How these resources fit with therapy

Some people arrive having read or listened first; others discover these resources later.

They can be:

  • a gentle introduction to this way of working

  • a support alongside one-to-one sessions

  • something to return to between sessions

  • a standalone resource if therapy isn’t right for you at the moment

There’s no expectation to read or listen before working together.

Not sure where to start?

If you’re unsure whether reading, listening, or one-to-one work would be most helpful, you’re very welcome to get in touch and talk things through.
