Support for Children & Young People
Gentle hypnotherapy for children and teenagers
Children and young people can experience worries and challenges just like adults — sometimes even more intensely, as they are still learning how to understand and regulate their emotions.
I work with children of all ages, from early years through to teenagers, using a gentle, age-appropriate approach tailored to each child’s needs.
Hypnotherapy for children is increasingly used to support emotional wellbeing, confidence, and resilience in a safe and empowering way.
Why hypnotherapy works well for children
Children naturally use imagination and daydreaming — what we might call a natural trance state.
This means they often respond very well to hypnotherapy, which uses:
imagination
stories
visualisation
gentle suggestion
Sessions are calm, creative, and supportive. They are never forceful, and children remain in control throughout.
Hypnotherapy is not about making a child do anything they don’t want to do. It’s about helping them access their own inner resources.
How sessions work
Sessions are always adapted to the child’s age, personality, and needs.
Depending on the child and the issue:
sessions may include a parent present, especially for younger children
older children and teenagers may prefer more independence
techniques are explained in simple, reassuring language
The focus is on helping the child feel:
safe
confident
understood
more in control of their feelings

Areas I commonly support children with
Hypnotherapy can help children and young people with a wide range of issues, including:
anxiety and worries
starting school or school-related anxiety
exam and test nerves
fears and phobias (e.g. the dark, dogs, spiders, monsters)
sleep difficulties and nightmares
bed-wetting
difficulty making or maintaining friendships
eating issues or food-related anxieties
confidence and self-esteem
If you’re unsure whether hypnotherapy is suitable for your child, we can talk this through.
A supportive approach for parents too
Supporting a child can feel worrying and overwhelming at times.
Part of my role is to help parents:
understand what their child is experiencing
feel reassured about the process
support changes at home where appropriate
The aim is always to help the child feel more settled and confident in their everyday life.
Online and in-person sessions
I work with children and young people:
online, and
in person in Chichester and West Sussex
Online sessions can work very well for children, particularly older children and teenagers, and offer flexibility for families.
Considering hypnotherapy for your child?
Childhood is a formative time, and gently addressing difficulties early can make a real difference to confidence and emotional wellbeing as a child grows.
If you’d like to discuss whether hypnotherapy could help your child, you’re welcome to get in touch for an informal chat and initial consultation.
